Gaudí
‘GAUDÍ : The Line of God’ is a conceptual title sequence created for an imagined documentary about architect Antoni Gaudí. Inspired by the organic curves, intricate textures, and shifting light found throughout his work, the piece explores the relationship between architecture, nature, and movement. I shot the original footage on Super 8 to give the sequence a tactile, archival quality, then combined it with custom typography and restrained motion design to create a visual language that feels both historical and contemporary. The project was developed as a personal exploration of how Gaudí’s distinctive architectural forms could be translated into a cinematic title sequence.

Case Study
Visual Research
The visual direction began with a study of organic form, architectural texture, and editorial typography. I focused on references that balanced Gaudí’s expressive architectural language with a restrained, cinematic documentary tone.
Form & Atmosphere
Organic structure, architectural texture, repetition, and monochromatic imagery.
Typography & Organic Line
Editorial typography, expressive serif forms, and fluid lines inspired by Gaudí’s architecture.
Title Development
The title treatment began with Bodoni, chosen for its dramatic contrast and classical character. I reshaped selected letterforms to introduce more organic, irregular curves inspired by Gaudí’s architectural language, while preserving the elegance and structure of the original typeface.
Motion System
The motion system draws from the curves and irregular geometry found throughout Gaudí’s architecture. Typography follows architectural lines rather than sitting independently on the frame, while subtle transitions and restrained camera movement preserve the tactile quality of the Super 8 footage. The final reveal takes inspiration from light filtering through stained glass, using it as an abstract visual motif to introduce the title.
Super 8mm Footage
I shot the original footage on Super 8 to bring a tactile, archival quality to the sequence. The film’s natural grain, subtle flicker, and imperfect movement became an integral part of the visual language.
